Harpsichordist Assi Karttunen has specialized in performing baroque music as well as participating in interdisciplinary groups with experimental and contemporary repertory.

She has also performed as a soloist in Estonia, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belgium and England and with several chamber orchestras in Finland. She has played in TV-programs (Finnish Radio Broadcasting Company YLE and FST), and participated in multidisciplinary performances of TAITE association. She is currently working in her Elysian Fields workshop..

Her first solo harpsichord recording Ariosa was published in 1999 (Jubal) including early Italian solo repertory. The second recording Memento mori Froberger was published in 2005 (Alba) and the third one, l' Egyptienne, containing solo harpsichord works by Jean-Philippe Rameau, came out in 2009.

Karttunen works as a musician-researcher and as a lecturer at the DocMus, Doctoral school of Sibelius Academy, and teaches harpsichord playing and basso continuo at the Early Music department, Sibelius Academy. The emphasis of her thesis was on the aesthetic and philosophical background of the eighteenth century French cantata.
